We have been going there since 2007 and I have to step in and say if you have not been there recently, give them a second chance. In the last couple years Jim has turned everything around from any negative reviews you may have read. We have always been treated right, the food overall has been great and the drinks are incredible. Get to know Elena or Robert the bar tenders and they'll make you their favorite specialty drinks. Great place to go for either a casual or more formal evening. Five Stars from us!

Best Steak Salad in Contra Costa County! Get a side of pepper corn sauce to did your steak. BEST cucumber mojito!!! Good service:)

Stick to the bar side/bar menu. First time eating in the dining area and it was a big disappointment. For the price, it's definitely not worth it. The Tenderloin tips with Gnocchi had no flavor, and were drowned in a sauce that also had no flavor. The New York steak also had no flavor, at all.

Love the fact that you can dress up formal for a nice date on one side of the restaurant... On the bar side, you can come in wearing casual wear, dress wear, shorts or simply flip flops, board shorts and a tan after a long day on the water! Also love the fact that you can eat for $10 a plate to $30 a plate! They have everything in between... Beer is cold and fresh! (pricey). Lots of flat screens in the bar, with many different games playing. They are usually pretty cool about changing a channel on a TV you are looking, instead of needed to look across the room. Great place to be loud! Great service and good food!

We found this place after searching for a new spot to eat a nice sit down meal. As we were walking up to the entrance, two older women were walking out. One, was clearly inebriated. The other (the sober one), stated that her companion (the drunk one) was her mother. Good family fun? Yeah, buddy. Upon entering the restaurant, you have the sports bar to the right and the dining area to the left. After being greeted by the hostess we asked to be seated in the dining area. From what I could see, the sports bar is all that a sports bar should be. Multiple flat screened televisions. Sports themed decor. The dining room was nice. We sat next to the fireplace. Views of the lake and golf course can be seen during the daytime. We both ordered the gnocchi. Gnocchi came with steak and mushrooms. I thoroughly enjoyed the steak and mushrooms. The gnocchi was average. This place was completely acceptable for what it was... a new place to try. Service was quick and friendly. I don't think I would eat dinner here again. Next time, I might just stick with apps and beers from the sports bar... or lunch on the patio.

Great atmosphere and blend of family/sports bar. The outside area is relaxing and well contained where kids can run around if you want and the adults can be inside watching sports games galore. May be a tad bit on the pricey side but its a good treat and nice place to hang out.

1st time here even though I have lived in Disco bay for 3 yrs. The name alone kept me from visiting the place, come on now you can come up with a better name. How about 1. Boulevard Bar & Grill, 2. Bayside Steakhouse & Bar, 3. Disco Bay Gastropub & Sports Bar. OK so I finally tried the place w/ my buddy and YES! I like it. We sat in the bar on this night and ordered burgers, I have to say we both thought these were the best burgers we have had in a long time much better than "Boardwalk Grilll" The fries came with the burgers and were hot and crispy. Thick bacon, a Giant onion ring and cheese dressed the namesake burger. Yummy. The bar was lively and plenty of servers(dressed in all black) that were easy on the eyes and very eager to please. (Get your mind out of the gutter). I will return , maybe for the next Sharks game.

We moved to Discovery Bay from Alamo 2 years ago and regularly go to this restaurant two or three times a month. We've actually never had a bad meal there and have found several menu items to be extraordinary. Try the Oriental salad with grilled chicken or shrimp and fresh ginger -- amazing! Also the short ribs are some of the best I've ever had We try to avoid bread but often they have some wonderfully fresh French bread that is irresistible. the people are friendly and we're always able to get a table in either the bar area or the dining area with white tablecloth. We're always comfortable going there at the last minute regardless of what we're wearing.

Love this place! Have been for lunch and dinner and it is fantastic!! Nice Tall Cold Draft Beers - our numero uno priority for weekend lunches! and they serve them up right! Awesome bartender, friendly and quick service. Good food. Fish and chips are yumo!

We have eaten here multiple times always receiving very good service and food. This week was slightly different, with food and service both climbing to excellent. The tenderloin tips with gnocchi were excellent, very tender and flavorful. It has a Gorgonzola sauce. It's hard to imagine it could ever be characterized as flavorless. Two folks had prime rib, ordered rare. It came: rare. Report was excellent. 4th party had fish special, no complaints. This from a perennial complainer. Had a reasonably priced very drinkable wine. Price? About $30 apiece. We keep coming back.

Located at the entrance to Disco Bay, Sports Bar & Steakhouse is a welcome stop for a martini & dinner after a long day of boating. The space is divided into several options: - The sports bar (loud & lots of TVs) - The dining room - Outdoor tables The menu is pretty elaborate, and covers all the basics. None of the items are particularly good - but there's not a lot of competition in the area! The best deal is to jump on the $19.99 price fix menu which will give you a salad, an entree & a glass of house wine. Otherwise, it's just too expensive for such low quality. Fried Asparagus: The best thing on the menu. Be forewarned though, the tough ends are still on there. Salad: Overdressed Pizza of the Day: Crust = way too doughy & floured Short ribs - pretty good, although they were cold, as were the potatoes Salmon - good It's pretty pricey, and the food is just so/so. But it's still a place to go where you don't need to cook! Definitely worth the $20 price fix though.

Extremely poor service. Food was ok after waiting 30 min to get it. Bar was not that busy for the service to be so poor.

One of my favorite places to eat. I like to eat in the dinnig room though. My boyfriend sometimes meet his friends on the sport bar side. The food is very good, I love the seared ahi tuna served with risoto and the short rib. It melts in your mouth and the flavor is to die for. These 2 meals are our favorites but we sometimes have one of the specials. The last time we went it was scallops (huge scallops cooked perfectly) with a risoto. One time we had some seafood pasta dish which enormous prawns, fish etc... I have never been disapointed going there.

Review is for the bar food/drinks. I'd give the Dining Room Menu 4 Stars otherwise as I've always had excellent meals and wine when I visited. Came here with an old friend Thursday night and had a watermelon mojito. I love girly drinks so it was easy to drink. We also shared a few appetizers - Calamari, Salmon Sliders, Hot Wings & Shrimp Cocktail...Not bad, not bad for the sports bar I haven't been to in awhile! I prefer summertime though, when you can enjoy the views of the greenery and water fountain in the back.

The sportsbar side of the restraurant is nice. There are plenty of tv's to watch your favorite team on. I've been here about a dozen times. It's one of about 5 restaurants in Discovery Bay. The wait staff is very nice and attentive. Previously I've had the Philly Cheesesteak and thought it was pretty good. I've also had the ahi tuna it was good too. A few nights ago, by boyfriend had the ribs and they were very dry. They are beef ribs. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It too, was very dry. I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. The french fries were crispy as if they had been sitting under the warmer for awhile. The apple coleslaw was very good. We wonder if the cooks have changed? We didn't ask.

The Steakhouse is great! A little pricey for what is is BUT we go here all the time! The Steak SALAD is great or stick to burgers! I am a Bloody Mary connoisseur and I have decided that BRANDON (awesome bartender) makes the BEST BLOODY MARY I have ever had! I don't know what it is and I have watched him many times- they are amazing!! I crave these Bloody Marys and I will admit that I drive by the Steakhouse just to see if he is working so I can have one of his Bloody Mary's!

They currently have a good special going on 5-7PM. Without the special, it's slightly overpriced considering the portion sizes. Atmosphere was good. At nights with major sports events, it can get loud-but hey, it is a sport bar! The food was great! Prime rib and Salmon (fresh) were cooked well. Waiters were responsive.

Let me preface this review by saying that I have been coming to this place for years with very little complaint. Normally, the food is good and the service is decent. Yesterday afternoon, I was in the Steakhouse with family for an early dinner. I ordered the Texas BBQ Burger (medium) and ate it without problem. Later in the evening, I discovered that I had gotten what appeared to be food poisoning and everything that comes along with that. Needless to say, it was a long, sleepless evening. This morning I awoke and was still suffering from that burger. I have been fairly lucky in not ever gotten a serious case of food poisoning, but this lasted all day. When I was feeling better, I called the Steakhouse to report the bad burger. I was calling not to complain, but to give the management a "heads up" so that no one else would get sick. When I spoke with the unnamed hostess and asked her to speak with a manager, she put me on hold and then let me speak with what sounded like a teenage boy who identified himself as "Robert". I explained the situation to "Robert" and instead of just apologizing and letting me know that he would be on the look out for the bad beef, he told me that he had eaten a burger during the day as well and nothing was wrong with it. When I asked "Robert" again if he was the manager, he told me that he was not and that the manager had gone home. Weird, I've never been to a restaurant with no management. Anyways, will I revisit the Steakhouse in the future, probably. But will it be my first choice or will I ever volunteer it, NOPE!!!

I went back after 6 months and guess what? Still bad. The service is a joke. The Philly Cheesesteak sandwich had 50% less meat than last time I ordered it... Must be tuff times going on..... Its not a "Steakhouse" or "Sportsbar"..

I'm so lucky to have a gourmet style restaurant less than a 5 minute walk from my home. The food is always spot on! If you're up for great food, outstanding drinks, sports bar, and a water view this spot for is you. It's not for those in a hurry or short on cash. ;) (There's fine dining here too, but I have yet to try it out. It's just too much fun in the bar area!)

  • Brooke T.

Drinks & food are overpriced. Food has been going downhill to the point that I will not go again. Yes, it is cougar town in there mixed with old golfers & scruffy wakeboarders. But hay, That's Discovery Bay! Try the Boardwalk Grill @ the marina instead.

This place is great on the weekends, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. The food is a little pricey for what it is but its still good. I eat here a few times a month and don't really have any complaints.

Love the early bird deal. $20 for dinner including salad and house wine (that isn't bad, I might add). This is a great deal, especially for such a nice restaurant/bistro type atmosphere. Also a must is the blackberry mojito. Absolutely delicious!

Ok food and cool atmosphere but WAY over priced. Oh it's also a comedy show in there on weekend nights with cougars looking to pounce.

I have been here a handful of times and I do like this place. Yes, most of the clientele is a little on the trashy side - specifically the women. Not quite sure why they feel they need to act/look like they're 23 when they're obviously 48 and squeezing into their daughters clothes. However, like someone else mentioned that is not the restaurant's fault. One thing the restaurant CAN work on is better service. The dining room service is pretty good, but the sports bar service is really poor. As someone who served in a 5 star restaurant for a number of years I can say that they need to get more disciplined on their staff - socializing with co-workers, doing side work off the floor while serving tables, and literally forgetting about tables is pretty BS. The only good server there was a shorter woman in her 30s - I hope she sticks around. Good Points: - chill atmosphere - good food and pretty high quality - only good restaurant in DB - portions and prices seem to be well matched Bad Points: - trashy cougar hunting ground - Some app items are too pricey for the portion (ex. ahi) - spotty service

Hubby & I have been here a handful of times. He loves coming here on the weekend to watch sports, have lunch and hang out with Robert(bartender). We've been here for breakfast(weekends only) lunch & dinner on different occasions. Service has always been great. Robert is very attentive and pleasant ( cute too). The wait staff are very knowledgable if you have questions about the menu. We moved here about 2 years ago and we have made this place our regular spot.

The food was good and so is the ambiance but the service was poor. Our table was an afterthought to the waitress who only came by 3 times. I tried to get a refill from a busboy which was unsuccessful and then from the waitress which was also unsuccessful.

Wow, I'm surprised at all the negative reviews here. Are we reviewing the same place? My SO lives in Discovery Bay and one Friday night we decided to have dinner here. He always mentions this place whenever we brainstorm over where to have dinner, but I wasn't craving steak until several weeks ago. He had eaten here several times before, including bringing his family here over the holidays when they visited DB a month ago and they raved about everything (escargots, squab), so I was hopeful. My meal here lived up to my expectations. I ordered the smallest prime rib they offered on the menu, and he ordered the rib eye. My prime rib was bloodier than I would've liked (I ordered medium-rare but I guess they only picked up on the "rare" part of it) but it was tender and the skin was flavorful. Lot of fat though - I spent most of the meal performing surgery on my piece of meat and pushing the fat into the corner of my plate. Overall, I prefer Kincaid's prime rib over this one, although it wasn't bad. My entree came with a side of creamed spinach which was pretty good, a tad too creamy though. The potatoes au gratin were very tasty. My SO's rib eye was equally delicious and came with a mushroom sauce, a side green salad and mashed potatoes. He preferred potatoes au gratin and our server very graciously brought over a platter for free. The side salad had a wonderful vinagrette type dressing, chunks of blue cheese and candied walnuts that was fantastic. Service was decent, although our waitress seemed a bit snooty. When we walked in the kitchen staff said hi, which was surprising because we didn't expect them to be so friendly. Overall I enjoyed my meal here and would come back again. We left with tons of leftovers so in my opinion the price isn't so bad. It seems like most people come here to have a drink and catch the game at the bar, and the parking lot is always full of enormous trucks and gas guzzling SUV's - I guess that's Disco Bay for you.

Never had a bad meal here. They have a nice dining room next to their sports bar. It's so nice to go to a place that has a sports bar where they don't blast your ears with noise. (Won't go to BJ's or Buffalo Wings again due to that.) Always have good service too. Surprised it's not more crowded.

  • Allison B.

We have eaten there about five times over the last couple of years, and every time I leave asking, "Why did we come here AGAIN?" The service has been slow and disappointing each time. The food is OK. I guess I keep hoping it will improve but I am done trying!

We live in Palo Alto and have boats in Disco Bay, so are there quite a lot. The whole family loves this place. The service is spectacular - everyone is friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. Try the prime rib, but bring a big appetite.

My hubby and I love eating at this place. The owners and the staff are great, especially the chef(s)! (Oh, we did have one bad experience from a young, male waiter. He must have been new because he kept forgetting our drinks like 3-4 times. We had to tell another waiter to remind him, but she ended up getting it for us.) Everyone else, however, were on-point! Our favorite appetizers in the bar area are the deep fried asparagus with parmesan cheese and Ahi tuna with noodles and seaweed. YUM-O!!! We've also tried the buffalo wings, but they were too salty (maybe because we're used to low sodium salt). We've also eaten in the dining area. The decorum was nice and romantic and the food was delicious, including the dessert. This is a great place to chill, eat great food, watch TV from their many plasma screens and then walk outside, along the water.

If I could give this less then 1 star I would. I went there once when they first opened and had one of the worst experiences ever. The food was just ok but not worth the money. The waiter was soooo incredibly rude it was just uncomfortable. I said we would never go back due to the over priced food and the horrible service we received. However I just recently made our way back over there thinking they may have worked out the kinks. I guess I was wrong!! We sat in the bar area this time. We asked the server what the happy hour specials were as far as food and drinks. He couldn't tell us anything about it just mumbled something about we don't serve dinner specials until 5 but I can find out for you, huh??? We finally ordered both meals came out wrong and this was waiting almost 40 minutes to get our food. How hard is it to make a salad and cook a hamburger? When our food finally came out for the second time I was less then impressed yet again. However this time the food was down right disgusting. I would have rather gone to orwoods and paid a third of the price for a meal that was ten times better. Oh and to set it all off the entire time that we were there we were swarmed with flies and were constantly shooing them away from us. As well as everyone around us. So that was lovely touch to our fine meal. Definitely will never go back again and will never recommend this place to anyone that is unless they are an enemy.

It looks like a medium high end restaurant you'd find somewhere like monterey or santa monica. But it doesn't follow through in its menu. I've eaten in both the sports bar area and the more formal restaurant. The sports bar area is pretty good but expensive. The restaurant is very overpriced for the quality. The food is bland, overcooked and trying to be something its not. On the plus side, it is the best restaurant in Discovery Bay...a small town with no decent restaurants.

  • Jen M.

a little expensive, but the food is good. I really like their bar menu and the fact that they have so many beers on tap even though i only drink coors light. they go through employees kind of quick, but there is only one server i'd miss if he left anyway. there are plasma tv's everywhere and it's usually crowded on game days and weekends. i don't have anything bad to say about the sportsbar except it closes too early on weekends. the bar should be open until 2 like everywhere else. but you too could have this much fun.... i5.photobucket.com/album…

I would like to post a recent experience that I had here on Friday April 16th, 2010. I really hope the owner looks at this. We were with a party of 8 people sitting in the bar area. The bill was prob around $300-$400 and our wonderful friend Mike was paying. Mike and his friend ordered the surf-n-turf. The waitress was really nice, but did not bring out one of the lobsters. Ok, no big deal. Then, our friends steak was not cooked "pink and red" like he asked, so he sent it back in the most polite way possible. The waitress is super nice, but was a little inatenttive and she didnt get our drink order a few times. Not a big deal. She was busy and we were a large group. Keep in mind, our friend Mike who was paying spends a lot of money at the Sporsbar; everytime he and his wife go, no less than $200.00 and with no complaints. Now here is the un-real part: All of the sudden, we are having a good time drinking, talking, and the owner comes over and approaches our friend. He says: "I want to let you know that I am taking one of the surf-n-turf's off the bill." Mike: "No, really, we are not looking for a free meal at all, I will pay for it, his steak just wasn't cooked like he wanted it but I am not looking to not pay for it, its not a big deal" Owner: "I'll freakin show you what a freaking medium-rare steak looks like get over here!!!" And while he is saying this, no lie, he hits Mike on the shoulder with the bill he is holding in his hand-seriously! We are all sitting there with our mouths open. So Mike and the owner walk over to the steak that is now sitting on the bar and they discuss it. Then his friend whos steak it was comes over. Says look: "I eat at steakhouses all the time. I am not trying to make a fuss or get a free meal, it just wasnt how I wanted it." So we have a few more drinks, pay the bill and leave. Meanwhile when we are finishing up our drinks, the owner and the waitresses are standing by the bar and talking about the situation in an obvious non-professional manner. I am not sure if he thought we were a group of punks trying to get a free meal or what, but that was so not the case, and we made that clear. I am SO not a complainer, I work in customer service and am the first to be understanding about other people who do as well. But what the owner at the steakhouse did was ridiculous and incredibly embarrassing for his business. Even if we were an extremely difficult group who was rude and didnt want to pay for our meal, there would STILL be NO GROUNDS for the way he acted. It was truly unbelievable.

How can I say this without offending? This is a great place to go watch yo'self some men with mullets and women in too tight tops (and not in a good way). When we first moved to Antioch we asked around about where we could go to have a decent drink and watch some games. This place was recommended again and again... I just didn't get it at first (because it's really not that great) but then I realized that it all makes sense. We're white, Discovery Bay is white, everyone at this bar was white, and they were all having bad drinks and watching games. I seriously felt ethnic just because I'm from Richmond. (Holla!) I think from now on we'll skip the drive and just head over to Schooners. The drinks are better, food is better, and the atmosphere is better, too.

I give the place a 4.5 for food, 3 for service, 2 for ambiance. As a Disco Bay resident, I finally decided to give Sports Bar & Steakhouse a try. Others mixed reviews do make sense. The service is very amateurish, but you can see that they mean well and are trying. Cheap furniture in the dining room was unexpected. For all the money in Disco Bay, it seems that a bit more refinement and class would be in order, but perhaps this is nothing more than what's expected in a community that makes drunkenness a sport . The food, however, was top notch!!! I give much credit to the head chef. The short ribs were done to perfection. My wife's tenderloin tips with gnocchi in mushroom sauce was excellent, though a vegetable should have been served on the plate. Great food at a reasonable price for the quality, but much needed attention to improving the vibe in the dining room is in order. By the way, hauling garbage between kitchen & outdoors while walking through the dining room is in incredibly poor taste!

This place is great. On holiday from the UK, we had dinner here 3 times in the week, with different groups of friends - we all agreed that it was a real oasis in the Delta. We dinned outside on every occasion, the services was very professional, friendly and efficient. We all loved the food and variety.

Talk about a down hill slide, when the first opened their food was top notch, one of the best burgers I had ever had, great prime rib, the sides were amazing. Even the bar menu was great. The service was great but it was always a little pricey... After loosing their head chef not long after opening the food went to ok to just down right bad and unacceptable at their prices. Drinks are pricey, its loud and hard to navigate when its at all busy. Its a good thing they have the captive audience of Discovery Bay.

I live in Discovery Bay, this place used to be a great place to go, we didn't even mind paying more just because it was local and HAD great food. New ownership must have taken over and it's apparent in both the food and service, poor job all around. By reading the reviews it's obvious who WORKS there and is using YELP to post advertisements, merely to drum up bigger tips... lame!

They have a couple of good things to eat here. Like they fried asparagus is very good. As for the entrees it's usually a hit or miss. Fun place to go for drinks and appetizers. It's casual dress don't come here expecting much though.

There are things I like about SB&SH and things I don't. On the good side - the creamed spinach is out of this world, and their prime rib is very good, and their pizza is good, and they pour a generous glass of wine. The place is always very clean, and the restrooms are clean and state of the art. On the negative side, they never change the menu, which discourages us from going back on a regular basis. The service is very inconsistent - a lot of turnover, and I agree with others comments about there being a completely different level of service for regulars versus mere mortals. I can appreciate that, but it would encourage others to become regulars if they got some preferential treatment too. Or at least weren't left sitting waiting to order while the staff kibutzes with their buddies. Most of the clients look like rejects from one of the "real housewives" series - too much bad plastic surgery and shopping at "forever 21" , when they'd be lucky to pass for "forever 51", and showing too much skin. Pretty scary, but the restaurant can't control that.

Mothers Day brunch was a BIG disappointment. The waitstaff did not attend to our table needs...no removal of dishes, no refill on champagne, no refill on water. Most of the food was overcooked. The prime rib was tough and dry, the king crab legs were tough, the Belgium waffles were soggy and undercooked. There was no presentation. All food were in chafing dishes. We thought surly the dessert would save the meal but unfortunately there was very little to choose from and most cut pieces had set out so long they were dry. I WOULD NOT recommend brunch at this establishment. They proved they can not handle the demand it takes to make a great experience!

I'm a Weekend Part-Timer in DB and as such, have little time for cooking and cleaning. I'd rather be boating anyways. This place is my favorite choice in the area. Always good food, the service is tough on the weekends. Like me, half the people are only there Friday-Sunday. But, if you like good Steak and aren't fooled into thinking you're in SF, then you'll be happy with the Sports Bar.

I live in Disco Bay and have eaten here a few times. The food: My husband and I both feel it's very good. Some of it is incredibly pricy for what you get. Some of it isn't. Can't figure that one out. He alwasy orders the prime rib sandwich. It has a lot of meat for what it costs (in the neighborhood of $10-$12). I ususally order a salad. My fav is the hanger steak, although the salmon one is really good too. They are decent in price as well considering what you get. I guess if you know what to order it's all good. Where it gets mega expensive is when you order a lot of drinks. Beer prices are OK, cocktails are pricy. The Atmosphere: Here's why I gave this restaurant 3 stars and not 4. The staff is lame. They obviously have their favorite "regular customers" that they pay tons more attention to. They also sit and socailize with them while you're waiting for your drinks and food. The "regulars" who hand out feel they own the place. As a non regular, you can feel sorta awkward. The crowd seems to be a lot of older people going through mid-life crisises and their cougar wives or girlfirends (stole that from a review below but it's VERY accurate). It's the best spot in Discovery Bay. Easily.

We went here for my mom's birthday, and the service and food were top notch. This is a great place for a special occasion or a nice evening out. We were seated right away on a friday night without waiting. Our server Francisco took care of us from start to finish. He recommended wine and gave me a taste first so I'd know I liked it first. He also recommended the calamari which was good. I ordered prime rib medium rare and my mom got an end cut. Both came out exactly as requested. My daughter ordered a pasta dish that was ok, but the steaks are their specialty here. The food was good, the ambiance was nice, prices reasonable and the service was excellent. What else can you ask for?? I'll admit I was very worried after reading the reviews, but either those bad reviews were highly exaggerated OR they have addressed their issues-either way, we really enjoyed it. We've also been a couple of times for the lunch special out on the patio, great experience.

This is a great place for sports fans! 17 plasma screen tv's strategically placed in the bar area. Yikes! 20 beers on tap, specialty drinks, a bar menu.... The restaurant thankfully lacks the massive bombardment of plasma!! I would not mind watching a Giants game in this bar - no way anyones head would be in the way ;) Fresh and made from scratch are proudly boasted statements here and from what i saw and heard, seem to be true. A bit pricey but worth it. I especially liked the baby spinach salad, the salmon filet and the sirloin burger. (Not all together ;)

This is the only good place around Discovery Bay. Expensive though and the service is fair most of the time. After about 15 visits (if you can hang that long), you'll get known by some of the staff and you'll get better service and better drinks. (Don't forget to tip big.) I think the owners should read a Tom Peter's book on good service. They will need to if another resurant moves in the neighborhood.

Great place to grab a beer, watch a game, and people watch. Unfortunately each time I go the food just keeps getting worse and worse. It's an expensive meal and it just isn't worth $35-$40 for a chewy slab of overcooked meat. Stick to the bar menu if you get the munchies while having a few drinks there. It's mediocre at best, but sometimes you just get hungry after a couple beers.

This was my 4th visit to this place and for the price I never was impressed at all. And although the the place looks incredible and you can watch any sport that may be on at the time your there well the food pretty much sucks. The Seafood Fettuccine was the worst I ever had. It literally smelled up the place. And I was starving so I ate the noodles. I think the smell came from the cocktail size shrimp. I had a couple pieces of the white type fish and I'm being honest when I say I don't know if I'm not going to puke. I ran into some friends and one of them went on and on how bad his food was. Believe me I would love to give the restaurant a great review especially since that would mean I enjoyed the food. But I don't really believe anyone enjoys the food there at this point. It's just sort of a cool place to hang out because of the modern design. Let's see $19.00 to get sick. I'm pretty easy going and I not too pushy so I didn't want to make a fuss. Bryanna the server facial expressions let me know that she knew something was wrong. Another waitress had walked by the table and pinched her nose as she walked by. Confirmation it seems! In summary I wouldn't recommend the food to anyone who's concerned about not getting sick. But if you want to have a few drinks in a great looking sports bar then this is the place. If your wondering, I did tip. The waitress can't help the fact that the owners could cares less about their business. And I wouldn't mind paying the $19.00 / total bill of $30.31 for 1 person. But come on if your going to try to pass the place off as a classy place with higher than average prices and you can't hack it, then don't serve rotten food! Raise the prices. Maybe someone will live and come back. The other dishes I had: 1st visit a few months after the opening...I had the Onion Soup. ok. A little spicy but a real nice square bowl. Seriously it was interesting. 2nd visit...I had a cobb salad. I forget the name but I remember it was a cobb salad. It was ok and just ok. It only had a few slices of egg and no olives or tomatoes. But the lettuce was great. 3rd time I had french fries. I wanted to take my sister and her boyfriend some where nice and this restaurant came to mind. My sister did like the ribs. Have you heard enough!? I think taking a few bites of the new million dollar bond supported lawn at the entry to Discovery Bay might have been a bit less devastating and well worth the expense. Peace I

My in-laws eat here a lot so when we go we get excellent service. I've only sat in the bar one time and had a good experience but I don't think it was a game day. A bit expensive but usually worth it. Try the scallops and the mac n'cheese. It'll be the best mac n'cheese you've ever tasted!

Probably the worst dinning experience ever. We came for drinks and possibly an early valentines dinner. After looking at the sports bar menu vs. dining room we opted for a drink and maybe an appetizer. Our server Alissa was extremely sweet in explaining the highlights of the menu and local favorites. The bartender was great in making a fresh patron margarita. Our server came back to point out the specials of the night and I was moved to order the prawns with crab wrapped in seaweed with mango and jalapenos. When it showed up there were 3 total shrimp, each of us pulled one and started to eat. I cut into mine and took 1 bite and I was done. The crab was extremely fishy and the appetizer as a whole was not good. unfortunately I got off easy as my girlfriend was treated to the same fishy crab and a completely unshelled shrimp. She immediately spit the contents onto the plate. With felt the need to point it out to the server who was shocked and insisted on bringing it to the chefs attention. Rather than apologizing, the chef had the server point out that they leave "some" shell on to keep the physique of the shrimp in presentation. Basically saying that my girlfriend is a complete novice in eating shrimp, prawns, and any other foods when in reality she cut a small portion off with a fork. We elected to pass on dinner at this cleverly disguised diner and fully expected to include the cost of the shrimp in the tip. The bill came, 2 beers, 2 margaritas, and 1 prawn appetizer. We were floored to find out that 1) the 3 shrimp were $16.00 and 2) that even though we at a grand total of 2 bites of the dish and pointed out that there was obviously something wrong it was still on our bill. We still tipped 20% because our server was good, the bartender was really good, and they have no bearing on the house as a whole. On the way home in discussion we decided to call and let the manager know that we were less than impressed and they should do something if they wanted to keep us as their customer. We were fine in paying for what we ordered, we just wanted them to know that we weren't satisfied. In calling the Sports bar & Steakhouse we were told to call back in 30 minutes. We waited and called back at the requested time, the hostess asked our name and then hung up on us. We called right back and were told nobody was available until closing. We called back again towards closing and was asked who was calling first and last name and were then told that neither the manager on duty nor the part owner were available to speak and would call us back if we wanted to leave a number. When all was said and done we placed 4 calls to point out the complete disregard for the customer from beginning to end and that we would not be patronizing their establishment any longer. It was empirically clear that we were not a concern of the management or ownership and that they did not appreciate our business. I hope this arrogant attitude serves them well as I can see the graph of their ratings go from high to low and continue to bottom out. I am glad to say I will be giving this experience the lowest possible grade available. Thank you for nothing Discovery bay Sports bar & Steakhouse.

I really don't understand the reviews that are listed that say this place is so expensive. When compared to chain restaurants they are no where near the prices of these other restaurants. And not only are they cheaper, you get more for the price. Where else can you get 8 pieces of fish and chips for less than another place where you only get 3 for the same price. Not only do you get more for less, but they use local produce when possible for the best flavor. They always use fresh, not frozen fish, fresh vegetables and fruit, purchase the highest quality meat and where else do they use rice oil which is better for you than regular frying oil. I think people should appreciate the effort to buy and use the freshest and healthier foods.

There is just something I don't like about a waitress and Manager that keep saying no, and "I'll check with your server about that". Top it off with a soggy Bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato sandwich. The garlic fries were cold. Hmm I see a theme here. Yes the Plasma tv screens all over are great and the beers are plentiful and cold. Just skip ordering any food.

This is an awesome place to come after a long day out on the water! We rolled in here with soaking wet shoes & mostly dry clothing and no one bothered to look twice. The service was fast, the server was really nice, food came out pretty quickly, and it tasted good too! We got 3 burgers & I got fish & chips with a side order of mushrooms, everything was awesome & no one could finish their meal, so the portions are good sized because we were all starving to death! Parking was easy to find on a Sunday evening, even with trailers attached.. Can't ask for a better experience than that!

We gave up on this place a few years back. They used to have a wonderful, butternut squash pasta. The pastas were discontinued and the restaurant stuck with their meat-eater menu which didn't fit the bill for any of the women in our family. We kept calling and the restaurant continued to promise to put pastas back on the menu. After over a year of calling, we gave up and moved on. I'm thrilled to say that pastas are back on the menu. Additionally, the menu has been revamped and is varied to please different palettes. If you gave up on this restaurant, give it a try again. We did and enjoyed a wonderful Fall Pasta with assorted mushrooms, sage & nutmeg mixed with pumpkin Gorgonzola Cream Sauce and tossed with Buccatini Noodles. Also tried a tasty clam chowder soup. Kudos to the owner for mixing it up.

Got there for both Easter and Mother's Day brunch. Excellent food, really special things like oysters on half shell and crab legs, unlimited amounts. A little jammed getting around with your plates, but that was because it was so popular. Don't remember the price, but it was worth it.

Stopped for late breakfast early lunch. Sat at the bar. Bartender was very friendly could tell the others there were locals Portions are huge for the money. Hubby had chicken fried steak and I had the California Egg Benedict (very unique twist on a classic) Very good and very filling Beer comes in a nice cold frosty mug

I'm only giving two stars because the service was great, except for the beer that was spilt on my leg by the new server that is. Food was not worth the price. The prawns lacked any seasoning and the filet was ok cooked more than medium rare but I get that's subjective. A friend with us got sick all night and still the next day from the salmon special. I think my biggest issue is that the prices did not match the quality of food. For the price we paid I would have expected at least a 4 star steak dinner - didn't happen. Save your money and drive to Clayton or to Livermore for a much better experience.

Soooooooo it is overpriced. Those complaints are pretty right on, however e food it always tasty and I never leave without being stuffed with leftovers to take to the office the next day for lunch. The plating is pretty, the ambiance work for the area and there is a good selection of wine. Also it's a hoot and a half to people watch here (everyone over fifty seems to think and dress like their 22 : ).

We love this place living in Discovery Bay, this is the closest good restaurant. They have a great menu. And don't miss the special brunches like Easter. We like to celebrate our specials occasions here. just us or with our whole family.

These stars are for the actual dining room, which was clean and well lit, and for the waitress, who was adorable and very sweet. The food was terrible. The salmon sliders were almost burnt, the house salad was very small. The kid's grilled cheese was made with cheap, pre-sliced style cheese. The garlic fries seemed like they came frozen and the garlic, which was very sparse, was almost raw. The Blue Burger was over-cooked and over-seasoned, except for the mushrooms, which were canned and the sautéed onions, which were under-cooked. The three-cheese ravioli only served five pieces, and came with nothing else.. no salad, or bread.. nada. Even though the food was only moderately expensive, I expect much better than what I got for the price, especially when the menu comes with a disclaimer that the food is "fresh and local." I won't be back.

Not a bad little bar/steakhouse out here in the sticks. Food is always inventive. Tonight they had wild king salmon or bacon wrapped filet for their specials. Always hopping. They have a nicer restaurant area and a large bar area that is more casual. Food is good. Prices are reasonable. Always a sure bet in Disco Bay.

Wow - best philly cheesesteak I have ever had - great bread, great flavor! Bartender forgot my beer, seemed to get caught up in a conversation to some folks next to me, then finally realized he forgot when I was just staring at him. Other than that, it was great. I will be back!

Heard raves about the fish and chips, well today they tasted like frozen pre coated fish, not the fresh I had heard about....not cheap, and rather dreary....but the waitress keep refreshments topped...
